How to review in Proofroom

A quick guide to leaving feedback on a review. No account needed — everything happens in your browser.

  1. 1

    Open your link & enter

Click the link your studio sent you. If the project is password-protected, enter the password, then add your name (and optionally your email — only used to notify you of replies). No account or app to install.

  2. 2

    Browse the review

You'll see a grid of images. The badge in the corner of each shows how many comments it already has, and a green tick means it's been approved. Click any image to open it.

  3. 3

    Mark up an image

Pick a tool from the toolbar at the top, then click or drag on the image to place your mark. A comment box appears — type your note and press Enter (Shift+Enter for a new line). You can also leave a mark with no text. The tool stays selected so you can keep marking.

  4. 4

    Add a general comment

For feedback that isn't tied to a specific spot, use the “Add a general comment” box in the comments panel.

  5. 5

    Reply & follow the conversation

Each mark has its own comment thread in the side panel. Reply to keep the discussion in one place; the studio can mark a thread resolved (✓) once it's handled. Numbers on the image match the numbers in the list.

  6. 6

    Approve when you're happy

Once an image looks good, open it and press the Approve button in the toolbar — it turns green and adds a tick. The studio sees your sign-off at a glance. Press it again to undo.

  7. 7

Zoom in to check the detail

Scroll (or pinch) to zoom into an image, or use the +/− buttons in the corner. When you're zoomed in, drag to pan around. Press the reset button to fit the image back to the screen.

  8. 8

    Move between images

Use the arrows (← →) or “All images” to move around. Everything saves automatically and your name is attached to each comment, so the studio always knows who said what.

Comparing versions

When your studio uploads a new round of the same image, Proofroom links the versions together by filename. If an open image has earlier versions, you'll see a version dropdown next to its filename at the bottom.
